Meet Dr. Bernhard
Dr. Matthew Bernhard is a board-certified Interventional Radiologist with IR Centers in Nashville, TN. He earned his bachelor of science in molecular and cellular biology from Haverford College, followed by his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine. He completed his diagnostic radiology residency and fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He holds a certificate of added qualification (CAQ) in vascular and interventional radiology from the American Board of Radiology.
Prior to joining IR Centers, Dr. Bernhard practiced at Ascension St. Thomas in Nashville for 11 years, including serving as the Chief of Interventional Radiology at Ascension St. Thomas-Midtown. During that time, he was instrumental in developing novel service lines providing treatments for Nashville patients with complex cancer conditions, pulmonary and deep venous thromboembolic disease (PE/DVT), and prostate enlargement (BPH). He served on multiple Ascension committees including the Patient Safety Committee, Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT), and ONE Liver Multidisciplinary Cancer Committee.

Getting to Know Dr. Bernhard
He joins IR Centers to further the advancement of minimally invasive cutting edge urologic, gastrointestinal, and musculoskeletal treatments for the patients of middle Tennessee. In his free time, Dr. Bernhard enjoys traveling with his family, hiking, mountain biking, racquet sports, cooking, and live music. He is always on the lookout for the next great taco.
